CURVES SCOTLAND
Important notes
CURVES SCOTLAND
- Fascinating photos of Scotland's most scenic roads
- Includes aerial shots from a helicopter
- The usual high standard of route recommendations and sightseeing trips
- A glorious trip through breathtaking landscapes
- Scotland has a lot more to offer than just bagpipes, kilts and whisky. Mist, rain and cold, for example. The wrong country for relaxed cruising? Not at all. The narrow, gently undulating roads are legendary, and attract hundreds of thousands of tourists each year, who are blown away by the charm of unspoilt landscapes and a unique culture.
- And it starts with the language. Although English is the official language throughout the country, the proud Scots still valiantly preserve their Lowland Scots and Scottish Gaelic. Independence is alive and well.
- We set out on a journey into mysterious parts. Weather-beaten castles and lochs (lakes) shrouded in ancient legend exert a powerful fascination. In the Highlands, we ride towards the Cairngorms National Park, where we are accompanied by the eerie bellowing of thousands of red deer. Spooky.
- It's hard to escape the mist, but we venture on towards the Isle of Skye. Following in the footsteps of the Vikings, we don't really want to leave the safety of our vehicle unless we really have to. At least until the next whisky distillery. But it's only a short visit because the spectacular North Coast 500 route lures us with the prospect of some "soulful driving"

The publishing house Delius Klasing was founded by Johannes Klasing and Konrad Delius in 1911, with the business already focusing on special-interest topics such as flying, motorboats and automobiles. The war then prompted a move from Berlin to Bielefeld.
It was here that Konrad-Wilhelm Delius, the co-founder's 29-year-old son, started up the business again in 1945.
From 1963 it was under the joint management of the brothers Konrad-Wilhelm and Kurt Delius. During the 1970s and 80s the firm began publishing numerous special-interest magazines that are market leaders today.
It is also expanded its publication of books,
and in the 1980s broke into the soft media sector, selling videos and also computer software.
In 1982 Konrad Delius took over management of the firm as the fourth generation of the family. Today some 220 staff are hard at work living up to the principles of the company, which is among the top 20 in the publishing industry.
